Every donation makes a difference and allows the realization of several projects improving the quality of life such as a family respite center to break the isolation, donations of equipment for specialized care, scholarship programs and establishing the groundwork for clinical research.
More widespread than any other genetic disease
Sickle cell disease is more prevalent than any other genetic disease including cystic fibrosis,
phenylketonuria (PKU), hemophilia, Tay-Sachs, and muscular dystrophy. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), sickle cell disease is recognized as one of the top 4 global health issues alongside malaria, AIDS, and tuberculosis.
The fight against this incurable disease
Currently, sickle cell disease has no cure, but adequate medical care can reduce the impact of some of its effects. When considering that the pain episodes associated with this illness are recurrent, it is imperative to treat patients quickly with the appropriate protocols for this condition.
