5 to 7: The giving bridge, an awareness of stem cell donation

Special Invitation: “Someone Like You Needs You”

Dear Members of Our Community,

We are delighted to invite you to “Someone Like You Needs You,” an awareness and mobilization event focused on stem cell donation for Black communities.

This will be a unique opportunity to learn more about the Stem Cell Donor Registry, hear inspiring testimonies, and engage in discussions with experts and community members.

Together, let’s build a bridge to donation—one act can change everything!

Event Highlights:

  • Conference on stem cell donation
  • Testimonies from donors and recipients
  • Networking and discussions
  • Complimentary refreshments
  • Music curation by DJ Kiri

Did You Know?

Less than 1% of registered stem cell donors come from Black communities.

Stem cell compatibility is primarily based on ethnic background. This means that Black patients suffering from illnesses such as leukemia or sickle cell anemia face greater challenges in finding a compatible donor. We can change this reality.

This event is organized by:

The Youth Wing of the Quebec Black Medical Association with Héma-Québec, in collaboration with:

  • The Faculty of Medicine at Université de Montréal
  • The Black Community Resource Center
  • The Quebec Sickle Cell Anemia Association
  • The Inspire Foundation
  • The Student Committee on Social Responsibility in Health at Université de Montréal
  • Black Physicians of Canada
  • VASC McGill
  • The Black Medical Students Association of Université de Montréal
  • The McGill Black Medical Students Association
  • The Canadian Black Nurses Alliance – McGill Chapter
