The project Youth In Pain: Solutions for Effective Opioid Use is one of the latest initiatives by Solution for Kids In Pain (SKIP). Launched in response to Health Canada’s 2021 Action Plan for Pain in Canada, this initiative aims to share evidence-based solutions for the medical use of opioids in managing acute and chronic pain in young people living with sickle cell disease.
With the support of Health Canada’s Substance Use and Addictions Program (SUAP), SKIP worked with a broad network of partners to:
- Develop a toolkit on opioids and pain management in youth
- Develop new resources on surgical interventions and pain relief action plans
- Lead an awareness campaign on the medical use of opioids in pain management
This initiative engages SKIP’s entire network and relies on the expertise of its national advisory group.
